As I reported in an earlier post, Cindy was rear ended. Cindy and Luke are just fine, and that is the most important thing. We are extremely thankful for that! Our car has been declared a total loss, though, so we have found ourselves in the market for a new car.
In the last couple of days, I have been researching how to get the best deals on a used car. There is a seemingly unlimited amount of information on the Internet that warns about the ways dealerships can take advantage of an unwary buyer. For example, they may reduce the sales price and then add several hundred dollars to a document fee at the end. I am glad that I have done my homework, so that I can make sure that no one takes advantage of me.
I am so glad that God is not an unscrupulous car salesperson. God’s promises are straightforward and true. There are no tricky contract agreements or toothy-grinned handshakes. I study car sales tactics to make sure that I get a good deal. I study God’s word for a completely different reason. I study God’s word so that I may understand and accept all that God is offering me, now and forever. God wants me to get the best deal that I can! That’s a big difference. I am so glad that God is not an unscrupulous car salesperson.
PS. I know that there are good car salespeople out there. I applaud your honest and ethical approach to car sales in a system that is inherently and often purposefully confusing for the consumer. I will pick on the car-buyer in my next post 🙂
Meanwhile, we are trying to decide which car is for us… suggestions?
