What Works Wednesday: Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

I can’t begin to express how meaningful a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service is to me. A community of faith gathers together to recognize the light of Christ delivered as a little baby so long ago, and to share the light of Christ with each other and then take it into the world. It is a wonderful metaphor of our Christian walk that I find incredibly renewing and unifying. If you are able, I encourage you to attend a candlelight service tonight.

  • Absolutely! The Christmas Eve Candlelight Service is tied with Easter for my favorite service of the year. I wrote in my post this morning that I always insist on attending this service: “There is something peaceful about walking out of church at midnight and gazing up at the same stars that hung in the sky over the little manger so long ago – stars that dimmed in the presence of a multitude of angels bringing Good News.”

May you and your family have a blessed, peaceful, and happy Christmas!

    • It is hard to describe with words. The candle light service is something that you will have to experience to fully understand its beauty. If you know of one in your area, I would recommend going to experience it for yourself!
